December 2017 Herriman City has a gold medalist among us. Our very own resident, Kaden Brown, got started in tumbling at the age of 10. After receiving his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, he wasn't sure what he wanted to do. His parents suggested going for his second-degree Black Belt, but he felt it was time to seek interest in something else. He decided to give gymnastics a try, but no one would have guessed his decision would take him down the road to gold. Kaden's first year in tumbling turned out to be spectacular. He was undefeated and placed first at the national championship in Long Beach, CA at age 11. He has remained undefeated in our state and region, currently holding the 2017 National Champion title. Kaden has been on three national teams, including the 2017-2018 Tumbling Senior National Team for USA Gymnastics. In 2014, Kaden was invited to the World Age Group Competition in Daytona Beach, Florida where he took fifth. The following year, he was invited again to Copenhagen, Denmark, where he received a bronze medal. This year, Kaden was invited to Sofia, Bulgaria, where he competed against 34 athletes from 13 different countries and received his title of World Champion in the 15-16 age division. Kaden't journey did not end there. He is now working on making the World Championships team next year in St. Petersburg, Russia, then on to the 2021 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama. He hopes to compete in the Olympics one day. Congratulations Kaden! We wish you success in all of your future endeavors and know that you will do great things!
