Herriman City is partnering with the Utah Rivers Council to offer residents a limited number of discounted rain barrels through the RainHarvest program. These American-made barrels help residents collect and store rainwater for outdoor use, such as watering lawns and gardens.
RainHarvest is a statewide program that provides rain barrels at a reduced cost to Utah residents. Collecting rainwater:
In Utah, collecting rainwater is legal. With our dry climate, storing rainwater from your roof can reduce your water use and help protect the environment. Rainwater harvesting keeps stormwater from carrying pollutants into nearby waterways.
Rainwater from your roof flows through gutters and downspouts. A rain barrel placed at the base of a downspout collects this water for later use.
The barrels available through this program:
Discounted barrels are available for Herriman residents for $57 each, while supplies last. A limited number are available at that price, so order early.
Once the discounted barrels are sold out, additional barrels can be purchased for $85 by the general public.
Orders are open through late April 2024. Barrels will be distributed during a one-day pickup event in early May. Barrels will not be shipped.
Place your order today at www.rainbarrelprogram.org/urc. Scroll down to the "Salt Lake County" section of the table, and start the first step by clicking "Subsidy Form Page." Note that "Salt Lake County" refers to unincorporated Salt Lake County, not Herriman nor other cities.
