Rain Barrels Available Through Herriman City Partnership

Herriman City is partnering with the Utah Rivers Council to offer residents a limited number of discounted rain barrels through the RainHarvest program. These American-made barrels help residents collect and store rainwater for outdoor use, such as watering lawns and gardens.

What Is RainHarvest?

RainHarvest is a statewide program that provides rain barrels at a reduced cost to Utah residents. Collecting rainwater:

  • Helps conserve water
  • Reduces demand on the municipal water supply
  • Decreases polluted runoff that flows into local rivers and the Great Salt Lake

Why Collect Rainwater?

In Utah, collecting rainwater is legal. With our dry climate, storing rainwater from your roof can reduce your water use and help protect the environment. Rainwater harvesting keeps stormwater from carrying pollutants into nearby waterways.

How Rain Barrels Work

Rainwater from your roof flows through gutters and downspouts. A rain barrel placed at the base of a downspout collects this water for later use.

The barrels available through this program:

  • Hold 50 gallons of water
  • Are made in the U.S. from 100% recycled plastic
  • Include a locking lid, mosquito screen, and a ¾-inch valve for garden hoses
  • Can be connected to other barrels to increase storage

How to Get a Discounted Rain Barrel

Discounted barrels are available for Herriman residents for $57 each, while supplies last. A limited number are available at that price, so order early.

Once the discounted barrels are sold out, additional barrels can be purchased for $85 by the general public.

Orders are open through late April 2024. Barrels will be distributed during a one-day pickup event in early May. Barrels will not be shipped.
