Citizens Police Academy

The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is a free course, designed to strengthen the partnership between the Herriman City Police Department and the community it serves. The goal is to educate the citizens of Herriman about their police department and to provide the participants with a working knowledge of day-to-day operations through hands-on demonstrations, training scenarios, educational workshops, and discussions. Topics may include:

  • Criminal investigations
  • SWAT
  • K9
  • Patrol functions
  • Officer safety challenges
  • Traffic stops
  • Crime lab / evidence collection
  • Police dispatch tour

This academy is designed for anyone 21 years and older who either live or work within the Herriman City boundaries

Six-Week Course — April 6 - May 11, 2023

The CPA is a six-week course one night a week on Thursday nights.

Every Thursday — 6:00 PM

Class begins at 6 PM ending somewhere between 8-9PM. The duration of the class will depend on the curriculum being taught each night.

Application — Deadline March 30, 2023

This program is in high demand with a limited class size. Because of this, we ask those wanting to participate to be committed to attend each night of the six weeks. If you believe you may miss one or two classes, please consider applying for next year's academy.
