Youth Council

The Youth Council provides an opportunity to learn about—and participate in—local government. In addition to educational opportunities, the Council organizes and takes part in service projects, fundraisers, and City events.

Want to be a part of the Youth Council?

Youth Council terms span from July 1st - June 30th, with the application deadline of May 15th each year. Each applicant will be interviewed and as part of a selection process by the City Council.

Application requirements

  • Age 14-18
  • Submit a written platform for a community service project
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Citizenship in good standing
  • Resume of previous extracurricular activities

What will the Youth Council do during the year?

  • Actively participate in City events
  • Learn about City government
  • Mentor with elected and appointed City counterparts
  • Youth day at the State legislature
  • Participate in a youth council leadership conference (pending budget approval)
  • Service projects
  • Other activities



Herriman Youth Podcast

Herriman Youth Council are required to do a legacy project each year. Some of the current members created the Herriman Youth Podcast. A Podcast made just for Herriman youth. If you have ideas on topics you'd like to hear, please email them to communications@herriman.gov and they will be passed onto the youth council members. 

Youth Council Meetings

Youth Council meetings are usually held on the second Thursday of the month from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Herriman City Hall.
